Hannah Riesser is a former member of Troop 42428 in the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan and a 2012 Gold Award Recipient.
Hannah joined Girl Scouts in kindergarten as a Daisy and received her Gold Award in 2012. For her Gold Award project, Hannah created an outdoor classroom at Hawkins Elementary School. She thought an outdoor classroom provided opportunities for students’ interactive, cognitive and motor skills.
Hannah drew heavily on the Girl Scouts law to use resources wisely by using recycled materials and more durable wood for the tables and benches. This made her project more environmentally friendly.
To be considered for a Gold Award, Hannah was required to turn in a complete description of the project timeline and go through an interview process prior to receiving approval for the project.
