Meagan Schulman is a former member of Girl Scout Troop 3118 in the Girl Scouts of Nassau County The Plains Association and a 2017 Gold Award Recipient.
Through her Girl Scout Gold Award project, “Project Keep Playing,” Megan educated softball players and their parents on the importance of wearing a face mask to avoid concussions. Facial and head injuries are among the ones that can be prevented with a little knowledge. Megan felt her community should know the ways players could protect themselves and others from being injured. Megan created pamphlets, a website and spoke at tournaments to help spread the word about the importance of being safe and protecting oneself while playing the game. Her own softball team, as well as other teams in the district have continued to educate their students on the importance of playing safe.
